The traditional covered teacup (or gaiwan) of China is the universal implement of tea preparation. It can be used for steeping, serving, and drinking. The tea leaves are placed in the cup and covered with hot water. Green teas are usually infused with the lid off to prevent over-brewing, while most other teas are steeped with the lid on. Hold the lid in place to keep the leaves in the cup while decanting or sipping. Great for tea drinking at work or while traveling. |
