This exquisitely hand-crafted Banko Kyusu comes from Shirayama, a ceramic artist who died many years ago. This is from a collection of pots that we uncovered on a purchasing expedition to rural Japan. This particular pot is hand-carved with two old wisened men meeting on a road and on the lid are inscribed the characters "真一味" meaning 'one true flavor'. This pot has a ceramic strainer, so no metal parts that can wear or rust. An antique heirloom quality pot in an age of disposable culture. |
